STEM TEST PREPARATION

We will be holding our STEM Entrance Examination on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 3:45 pm at Brebeuf College School (211 Steeles Avenue East Willowdale, ON, M2M 3Y6). There will be several safety precautions in place.

Breakdown of the Test's Content

  • The questions are based on the Grade 7 Curriculum.

  • The test will consist of three parts: Math, Science, and a written paragraph based on a prompt, article, or other information provided. Each portion will be approximately 25 minutes.

  • The test is only ONE of many criteria that the STEM committee will use to determine acceptance into the program. How a student performs on the test will not necessarily determine a student’s status. Please do not be discouraged or intimidated by the screening test as this may prevent you from being part of a great opportunity and high school experience.

Mathematics

Students may wish to review Grade 7 math content. Here are some sample strands that questions may be derived from:

  • Patterning/Linear Relations

  • Algebra

  • Proportional Reasoning (ex. Percentages, Ratios, Proportions, Fractions), Graphing/Coordinate Systems

  • Integer Expressions

  • Operations With Fractions

  • Data Management.
